Country star Garth Brooks is accused of rape and sexual harassment by a former employee

Country music icon Garth Brooks is facing allegations including rape, sexual assault and assault, according to a lawsuit filed in California state court.

The plaintiff, identified as “Jane Roe,” alleges that Brooks sexually abused her during her employment as a hair and makeup artist for the Grammy winner.

The woman's lawsuit also alleges that he made sexually explicit comments to her and repeatedly harassed her during her employment from 2017 to 2020.

According to the BBC, Brooks described the woman's lawsuit as “blackmail and slander.”

The accuser alleges that in May 2019, Brooks asked her to accompany him on his private plane to a Grammy awards ceremony in Los Angeles. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Brooks had reserved a single, one-room suite that they could share when they arrived at the hotel.

The lawsuit states that the country singer exposed himself in the bedroom door before sexually assaulting her as she entered the hotel suite, and alleges that after the alleged assault, Brooks continued to make sexual advances on other occasions after the alleged assault and forced her to accept his Touching genitals and participating in his fantasies.

The lawsuit also alleges that Brooks proposed to Jane Roe for a threesome with his wife, fellow country star Trisha Yearwood.

The country singer told the BBC: “Over the last two months I have been plagued with endless threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I didn't write a multi-million dollar check.” like a loaded gun was being waved in my face.

“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. For me it means admitting to behavior that I am incapable of – ugly actions that no human being should do to another.”

“I want to play music tonight. I would like to continue our good deeds in the future. It breaks my heart that these wonderful things are now in question. I trust the system, I'm not afraid of the truth and I'm not the man they made me out to be,” the country singer added.

According to CNN, lawyers representing Roe claimed that Brooks' attempt to suppress their client by filing a preemptive lawsuit in Mississippi was merely a desperate act of intimidation.

“We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,” said attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker. “We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks. “The complaint filed today shows that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, in Hollywood, and in the rap and rock and roll industries, but also in the world of country music.”

Three weeks ago, a person described as a “celebrity and public figure residing in Tennessee” filed an anonymous lawsuit in federal court in Mississippi, sparking litigation over the matter, and Brooks was the person in question.

Brooks stated that Jane Roe made the accusation after he denied her requests for employment and medical benefits. In a preliminary complaint, he categorically denied her allegations, calling them repugnant and untrue.
