Govinda's shooting incident

Govinda was admitted to Criticare Asia Hospital on Tuesday morning after he sustained a gunshot wound to his leg in the early hours. The shot was fired from the actor's licensed revolver. The actor said the shooting was accidental and occurred while he was cleaning his gun before heading to the airport. The actor was alone at home when the incident occurred.

Mumbai Police launched an investigation into the incident although no complaint was lodged. The Crime Branch also launched a parallel investigation into the matter and even registered Govinda's statement. Police ruled out foul play, but News 18 cited sources as saying they were not convinced by the actor's version of events.

Govinda's recovery

The doctors who treated Govinda claimed that there was no danger to the actor and the bullet was removed hours after he was admitted. The actor spent three days in the hospital recovering after his surgery. Dr. Ramesh Agarwal of Criticare Asia Hospital, who treated him, told ANI after his discharge, “He (Govinda) has been asked to rest for three to four weeks now, his exercises and physiotherapy are continuing. He's fine. We are releasing him.” He will rest at home.

During his hospital stay, the actor was visited by several Bollywood celebrities including David Dhawan, Raveena Tandon, Rajpal Yadav, Jackky Bhagnani and Shatrughan Sinha among others.
