This Google India job offer worth Rs 65 lakh is going viral and why

Kartik Jolaparawho works as a developer at a US-based multinational financial company JP Morgancame across the LinkedIn profile a person with ten years of experience who was intrigued by the offer and posted it on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) with the caption “crazy offers”. Since being uploaded, the post has gone viral and sparked several reactions as the LinkedIn profile showed that the candidate in question had a Level 3 degree and not a degree in Computer Science.

“What 10 years of experience can you bring? “Crazy offers,” Jolapara wrote in his X post, which also includes the screenshot of Google’s offer.
Google's job offer, which caused a stir online, revealed a generous compensation package. According to the screenshot, the candidate, who has neither a traditional technical background nor a degree from a top-tier institution, was offered an offer Senior Software Engineer Position with an annual salary of Rs 65 lakh. In addition to this base salary, the tech giant's offer included an annual bonus of Rs 9 lakh, a signing bonus of Rs 19 lakh and a relocation bonus of Rs 5 lakh.

How users responded to Google's job offer

This offer has surprised many and sparked debate about the evolving technology hiring landscape, where skills and experience are increasingly more important than traditional qualifications.
“Am I the only one who isn’t thrilled when I see these numbers? I mean, aren't they common in technology? Did I miss something?🤔” One user wrote in support of the offer.

Similarly, another user pointed out: “To be completely honest. I'm not impressed by the numbers. I've seen better from the same company. But I'm happy for him. 10 years of experience and L5 requires a lot of specialist knowledge.”

“It's interesting to see that people mistake these big numbers for low numbers. Tech jobs have really drained the money,” a third user highlighted.

A fourth user also noted that the compensation package offered by Google for 10 years of experience is still low. He wrote: “Am I the only one who thinks this guy must be pretty bad or average at best? 10 years of XP and still a pretty mediocre salary, all things considered. Kind of sweet.”
