Man killed in workplace incident in Australia

A County Donegal man who died in an industrial accident in Australia has been named locally as Barry Breslin.

Mr Breslin, 35, who was originally from Kilcar, died while working in Perth's northern suburbs.

Accordingly The Western Australian News AgencyHe suffered serious head injuries after being hit by the arm of an excavator. He was then taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital but died a short time later.

Mr Breslin was a father of one and was said to have lived in Australia for several years.

The State Department agreed to provide assistance to Mr. Breslin's family but did not comment on individual cases.

A tribute from his local GAA club in Kilcar said the entire community was in shock following Mr Breslin's death and he would be fondly remembered.

“CLG Chill Chartha would like to extend our sincere condolences to Barry’s fiancée Melissa, his son Tommy, his parents Seamus and Mary, his brothers Owen and Shane, and his entire family and his many, many friends.

“It came as a huge shock to all of us when we received the news of Barry’s untimely death in Australia this morning.

“Barry played for the club at an underage level for many years and is fondly remembered by the players and everyone involved at the time. “Also to his mother Mary, a tireless volunteer and supporter of our club over the years, our thoughts are with you and your family and we extend our prayers to you all at this sad time.”
