Mountain Home resident arrested for attempted arson at fast food restaurant





Mountain Home, AR. – A Mountain Home resident was arrested for attempting to start a fire at a local fast food restaurant. Shane Eugene Carson, 46, is charged with attempted arson for the Sept. 30, 2024 incident.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers received a call from Wendy's reporting that someone had attempted to start a fire at the restaurant. A manager showed officers surveillance footage that showed a person placing an object under the gas meter, setting it on fire and then leaving the scene. An employee noticed the fire and was able to put it out. The video also revealed that Carson had attempted to light a piece of wood under the same gas meter earlier in the day.

Officers were able to identify Carson based on previous encounters with him that same day.

Carson also faces an increased sentence due to his status as a habitual criminal. He is currently being held at the Baxter County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
