Man charged with murder of 19-year-old

A 19-year-old has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in Hartwell.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Hamilton County Municipal Court, Erik Evans is accused of shooting Bairon Chaj, also 19, during an attempted robbery earlier this year.

Officers were dispatched to a shooting in the 8200 block of Vine Street on the evening of July 20, where they found Chaj suffering from gunshot wounds, police said in a news release.

Chaj was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment but ultimately died from his wounds.

Evans was arrested Thursday, police said in a news release. Jail records show he was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center early Friday morning.
