Three teens arrested in connection with multiple armed robberies in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – Three teenagers were arrested Friday after a police chase in connection with several armed robberies in the Indianapolis area, police said.

According to IMPD, at approximately 5:30 a.m., officers, with assistance from community members and using license plate reader technology, located a vehicle involved in the robberies, which police said occurred Thursday evening into early Friday morning.

Police said a traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and the vehicle fled from officers, leading to a pursuit.

The suspect vehicle crashed into another stopped vehicle, resulting in the sole occupant of that vehicle being removed by emergency medical services. Fortunately, the victim was taken to hospital with only minor injuries.

Police said the suspect vehicle continued to flee and eventually crashed near 38th Street and Georgetown. Three young suspects got out of the vehicle and fled.

While two of the suspects were arrested, the third suspect was located using a drone and K9. At least one firearm was recovered.

At this point the crash site was cleared.

The three young suspects were taken to hospital for examination. After their release, they are taken to the robbery office for questioning.

Police have not released any further information about the armed robberies.
