Man barricades himself in house after domestic incident

VILNA, N.Y. (WWNY) – When state police responded to a domestic incident in the town of Vilna on Wednesday, they found the suspect barricaded inside his home.

According to police, 46-year-old Timothy Keller of Carthage was involved in an altercation in which he allegedly threatened the victim with a knife and grabbed her by the neck.

Keller allegedly barricaded himself in the Milady Road residence before police arrived there and refused to leave the house when they arrived.

After a standoff and an interview with a crisis negotiator and a SWAT team, Keller voluntarily left the home and was taken into custody.

Police searched the home after obtaining a search warrant. A temporary extreme risk protection order has been filed under the state's Red Flag law.

Keller was charged with second-degree menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was charged and released.
