School Threat: Phoenix police arrest a teenage girl in connection with the incident at Sierra Linda High School

Phoenix police say an arrest has been made in connection with this a threatening incident at school that impacted a high school in Phoenix on October 2nd.

According to a brief statement released Oct. 3, police said they arrested a juvenile female for her alleged involvement.

“The teenager admitted her involvement and explained that the threat was intended to be a joke and had gotten out of control,” part of the statement said.

According to our initial report, the incident involved Sierra Linda High School, located in the area of ​​67th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

“The school management began receiving information from students about several messages that were circulating in social media posts around the school. At approximately 10:15 a.m., the school resource sergeant was called to the school to assist in the investigation. During this phase of the investigation, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a message surfaced with a photo of an area that resembled a common room at the school,” reads part of the statement released by Phoenix police following the incident.

Investigators said the school was placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution while officers were called in to search common areas.

“As soon as the school was deemed safe around 12:00 p.m., students were released from school. Normally school release takes place on Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m.,” part of the statement reads.

According to police, the teenage suspect was lodged in a juvenile detention center and is accused of “several crimes, including making terroristic threats, computer manipulation and disrupting an educational institution.”
