'Saw a fountain of blood coming out': Govinda recalls bullet incident

Bollywood star Govinda, who was discharged from hospital after undergoing treatment for an injury caused by his gun misfiring, has recalled how the incident happened. He said it fell and fired.

Govinda spoke to the media outside his hospital. He was seen sitting in a wheelchair and thanking everyone.

“I thank everyone in the country for their love, prayers and support. Special thanks to the administration, police and honorable Shinde Ji. Your blessing protected me. Thank you for your love. Jai Mata Di!” said Govinda.

He then talked about his injury.

Govinda said in Hindi, “Pray for me. It was a serious injury and when it happened I couldn't believe it giri aur chal padi (it fell and misfired)… I was stunned and then I saw a fountain of blood coming out.

He said his doctor accompanied him to the hospital.

The actor misfired his licensed gun while cleaning out the closet and accidentally shot himself in the foot. Part of the weapon's lock was said to have broken, which led to the misfire.

According to the sources, the actor was supposed to travel to Kolkata but before that, he was thinking about arranging his wardrobe when the unfortunate incident occurred where the lock of the gun was broken.

At the time of the incident, six bullets were loaded and one of them misfired in his foot following which he was immediately rushed to the hospital in Juhu.
