Drew McIntyre comments on viral CM Punk photo at WWE taping

Drew McIntyre has shared the story behind a particular photo that caught the attention of fans online.

As has been seen on WWE television and social media over the past few months, McIntyre and CM Punk hate each other. Both have promised blood in their upcoming Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood and seem determined to make sure only one man leaves the building. Additionally, both men have stated in interviews that some real-life tension played a role in the feud.

While many fans were intrigued by the rivalry between Punk and McIntyre and believe it to be the best rivalry in wrestling right now, a photo of the two bitter enemies casually standing together before the show went on air broke the fourth wall. As a result, some fans were outraged because they felt the illusion was shattered and should not have been released.

In conversation with Ryan Gaydos from Fox NewsMcIntyre brought up the tension that exists every week and also commented on the above photo with his rival:

“You can feel the tension,” he said. “Everyone could feel the tension when he and I were close to each other. We have to be professionals and do our job. We understand that we have been doing this for a long time, that real personal issues, real hatred, cost money. We also know that when the bell rings, we can really lean on each other.

None of us will complain and when we are on the microphone we can see how we feel. Unlike many of our superstars, we both have thick skin – they always want to cry when I tweet about them. I really appreciate that about them.

But you can feel the tension when we are close. And I remember recently a picture was posted online and it was the big talk on the internet because (CM) Punk and I were close to each other during the day and it was like, 'Oh my God, they really aren't doing it.'” I don’t like myself.”

I thought: Yes, you fucking idiots. You don't go to your office job and occasionally have to stand next to the guy you don't like just because someone took a photo of that moment, because we're dealing with a situation that you have to deal with in your job too if you can't stand the PK.

Drew McIntyre explains what's next

Both Punk and McIntyre have made it clear that their rivalry will be over when all is said and done at Bad Blood. In a previous interview, Drew McIntyre discussed his plans in WWE after the CM Punk match.
