Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash that killed one and injured three in the Upper Peninsula

IRON COUNTY, MI – One person is dead and three others are injured in a crash in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

WLUC-TV reported the single-vehicle accident occurred at 3:11 a.m. Thursday on Ottawa Lake Road in Iron River.

The Iron County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. An investigation revealed the driver of a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country was traveling west on Ottawa Lake Road when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a tree.

A male passenger from Iron River was pronounced dead at the scene, the television station reported. The female driver and another male passenger, both of Iron River, were taken to Apirus Iron River Hospital with serious injuries.

A third passenger, a man from Indiana, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was also transported to Aspirus Iron River with serious injuries.
