Two Valdosta teens arrested and charged after police seized multiple firearms

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – Two Valdosta teens were arrested and charged after police found four firearms in their possession.

According to the Valdosta Police Department (VPD), on Wednesday, October 2, at approximately 9:30 p.m., VPD narcotics detectives were patrolling the 700 block of East Brookwood Drive, which was not authorized to monitor criminal activity.

Investigators observed several men standing in front of a residence, and when these men noticed investigators, they attempted to flee the area and hide.

When investigators spoke with the individuals, they found several handguns, according to VPD.

After investigating the incident, investigators arrested 19-year-old Zion Hardy and 17-year-old Harvey Freeman. Both were taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

Harvey was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (felony). Freeman was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Minor (misdemeanor).

“There is no doubt in my mind that the great work of these detectives prevented a violent crime,” said Chief Leslie Manahan.
