Brian Comer, 64, pleaded guilty Sept. 18 to a misdemeanor charge in connection with shooting geese with a shotgun at Rocky Lakes Golf Course in Greene Twp., according to Clark County Municipal Court.

Comer, a white American and an employee of the golf course, was seen by a golfer shooting a goose with a shotgun on September 10th. This happened after the golfer saw another dead goose floating in a pond, according to Clark County Municipal court documents.

An Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) official spoke with the course director, who said Comer is a hunter and is allowed to trap geese on the property, “and should have all appropriate licenses and permits.”

TRENDING STORIES:

The ODNR official checked the Division of Wildlife's licensing and harvest database and determined that Comer did not have the Ohio Wetland Stamp, HIP certification or Federal Migratory Bird Stamp, which are required for hunting migratory birds.

Comer admitted to shooting the geese and said he believed the golf course had a permit to shoot the geese, according to court documents.

Comer received a citation from ODNR officials for hunting without a stamp. The ODNR officer noted that Comer was cooperative and had not committed any prior wildlife violations.

He was subsequently arraigned in Clark County Municipal Court on a misdemeanor charge. Court records show he paid $200 to cover a fine and court fees.
