Naugatuck teen stopped at 113 mph on I-84 and was arrested for drunk driving

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) – A Naugatuck teen was arrested for driving under the influence after he was pulled over going 113 mph on I-84 in Southington.

According to state police, 19-year-old Avila Carvalho De of Naugatuck was pulled over at 10 p.m. last night after clocking a speed of 113 mph in a 65 mph zone.

When stopped, the trooper spoke with Carvalho and noticed signs of impairment.

“Carvalho was asked to perform the standardized field sobriety tests, which he agreed to participate in. As a result, Carvalho did not conduct testing according to standards,” state police said.

He was arrested and charged with reckless driving and illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.

Carvalho was later released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in New Britain Superior Court.
