Albany man dies in crash near Tickfaw

TICKFAW, La. (WAFB) – Louisiana State Police troopers are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that killed an Albany man on Thursday afternoon, October 3rd.

Officials identified the victim as Alebrt Johnson Jr., 55, of Albany.

According to state police, the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Highway 1064 near Durbin Road in Tangipahoa Parish.

According to LSP's preliminary investigation, Johnson was traveling east in a 2011 Nissan Altima when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle veered onto the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Troopers said Johnson was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A routine toxicology sample was taken for analysis, officials confirmed.
