Clarksville man charged with drunken driving in crash that killed a 53-year-old woman

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A Clarksville man has been charged with causing last November's fatal car crash that killed a woman on Guthrie Highway.

On November 5, 2023, at approximately 4:15 a.m., deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to a head-on collision near the 4200 block of Guthrie Highway.

Tammy Biggins, 53, was driving a 2013 Kia Forte south on Guthrie when a 2021 Nissan Versa traveling north crossed into oncoming traffic and hit her head-on. Biggins died from her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, 22-year-old Nicholas Wade Hawkins, was injured in the accident. Charges against Hawkins were still pending when law enforcement began investigating.

On September 17, 2024, ten months after the accident, Hawkins, 23, was arrested on two charges: driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter.
