Former Madison Co. detention officer arrested for bringing contraband into jail

MADISON CO., Miss. (WLBT) – A former Madison County Detention Center officer is behind bars after he was caught allegedly bringing contraband into the jail.

Officers arrested Brian Marquell Nolden on Thursday after receiving a tip that he was smuggling prohibited items such as marijuana gummies and vape pens.

“We caught him and arrested him. He is now in jail,” said Madison County spokesman Heath Hall.

Hall confirmed that Nolden was a detention officer at the time of his arrest. He says the suspect is no longer employed by the county.

Nolden is charged with conspiracy to introduce contraband and controlled substances into a correctional facility.

Since he was arrested after 5 p.m., he has not yet appeared in court for the first time. He is expected to appear before a judge in Madison County Justice Court next week.

As of Friday afternoon, bail had not been set in his case.
