Georgia man arrested, charged with involuntary manslaughter, additional charges after fatal car crash

A man was arrested Thursday in connection with a fatal five-vehicle crash, according to Maryland State Police. Ray Pittman, 62, of Milledgeville, Georgia, is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, motor vehicle manslaughter and two counts of motor vehicle manslaughter. Maryland State Police responded to a call about a motor vehicle on Interstate 70 westbound around 5 p.m. Thursday Five-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer. Morgan Suter, 27, of Hagerstown, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Pittman was driving the tractor-trailer and was unable to slow down in heavy traffic when it crashed into the rear of a car being operated by Suter. According to initial police investigations, several cars were hit. Two people involved in the accident were taken to hospital for their injuries.

A man was arrested in connection with a fatal five-vehicle crash in Washington County on Thursday, according to Maryland State Police.

Ray Pittman, 62, of Milledgeville, Georgia, is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter, motor vehicle homicide and two counts of driving while impaired.

Maryland State Police responded to a call about a five-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer on westbound Interstate 70 around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Morgan Suter, 27, of Hagerstown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Pittman was driving the tractor-trailer and was unable to slow down in heavy traffic when it crashed into the rear of a car being operated by Suter. According to initial police investigations, several cars were hit.

Two people involved in the accident were taken to hospital for their injuries.
