Renato Moicano agrees with Sonnen that Gaethje would be a good fight

Renato Moicano is ready for a fight with Justin Gaethje.

Moicano (20-5-1 MMA, 12-5 UFC) defeated Benoit Saint Denis en route to a second-round TKO at UFC Fight Night 243 in Paris in September.

Moicano's star continued to rise after his fourth consecutive win and the Brazilian believes there is no limit to his ever-growing popularity.

“The best thing is that you don’t have to rely on anyone,” Moicano said on his “Show Me The Money” podcast. “Sometimes for a title shot you need big names like Gaethje or someone who has fought for the title. At the moment you just have to keep winning.

“It doesn’t matter who you fight now. It could be Paddy Pimblett. It could be Dan Hooker. It could be Justin Gaethje. It doesn't matter. One more win, two more wins, it doesn’t matter – you will fight for the title because now people are starting to recognize you.”

Paddy Pimblett is still interested in Moicano, but he would want to raise the stakes for this fight. As for Dan Hooker, Moicano is ready to move on to an even bigger fight – Gaethje (25-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC), which Chael Sonnen called a no-brainer. Moicano battled a shoulder injury in his win over Saint Denis but insists he would be ready before the end of the year.

“To be completely honest, Paddy Pimblett is a good fight because he's famous, but I would rather fight him if we do 'The Ultimate Fighter' because that will be funny and get a lot of attention,” Moicano said. “Otherwise I would rather face Justin Gaethje for a fight because I don’t think Dan Hooker will win the fight. He's now had the opportunity to say let's fight, but he says I avoided him in Perth.

“That's not true. They didn't offer me this fight. Let's fight for December. I'm telling you I'm ready for December, January. It doesn't matter. But if Dan Hooker doesn't want this fight, then let's choose Justin Gaethje. I've seen Chael Sonnen talk about this and I agree with him: Justin Gaethje would be a good fight. It doesn't matter, brother. I come for the gold, my brother. I’m going to be the damn champion of this division.”
