A pedestrian is killed in a crash near 1-15 and Speedway Blvd

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — On Sunday, September 29, the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash in the area of ​​I-15 and Mile Marker 54, north of the northbound ramp.

The accident occurred between a white 2016 Freightliner box truck that was traveling northbound on the far right side of I-15. A pedestrian strayed into the lane in front of the Freightliner. The Freightliner tried to avoid the collision by swerving to the left to avoid hitting the pedestrian, but was unsuccessful.

The pedestrian was hit by the right front of the truck and died from his injuries. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver remained on site and cooperated with the investigating police.

To date, the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol's Traffic Homicide Unit has investigated 54 fatal crashes that resulted in 62 deaths.
