City Drug Remains Open Under Settlement Agreement | News

There was an update on City Drug Pharmacy's temporary license suspension.

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

I received the pharmacy settlement agreement from the Wyoming Board of Pharmacy. Approval of this agreement will lift the summary suspension, allowing the Company to keep its doors open and continue operations.

The problems began late last month when City Drug's pharmacy license was temporarily suspended for allegedly violating a previous board order that prevented it from filling prescriptions.

After a pharmacy board meeting, a resolution was passed requiring city drug owner and pharmacist-in-charge Kelsey James to sell the pharmacy to a third party within six months.

Additionally, James' pharmacy license will be revoked for three years, she will be required to complete training on ethics and safe compounding, and will pay a $10,000 fine.

The pharmacy must also pay a total of $48,000 in fines, appoint a new pharmacist in charge, conduct annual inspections and not charge any compounding.

This board agreement comes after several other settlement offers from City Drug were rejected.

Approval of this settlement eliminates City Drug's right to a hearing or appeal in the contested case. All fines must be paid within 90 days.
