Matthew Nicklas is accused of sexually abusing a minor

PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio – The director of the Pickaway County Board of Elections was arrested Friday after being accused of sexually abusing a minor, according to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost's office.

Matthew Nicklas, 41, was arrested after Circleville police officers and agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Special Victims Unit executed a search warrant at his home.

Nicklas will initially be arraigned in Pickaway County Municipal Court, with additional charges expected, Yost's office said.

The Pickaway County Board of Elections said Nicklas was removed from his position effective Friday.
