UAPD warns of stalking incident on main campus – The Daily Wildcat

The University of Arizona Police Department received a report of stalking from campus security on Oct. 3 at 4:33 p.m. According to the report, a student was hit in a car on the University of Arizona's main campus. A man asks if she wants a ride. The man returned in his car to ask again if she wanted a ride. The exact location of the stalking is unknown.

On Friday afternoon, UAPD sent a timely Clery Alert to alert the campus to the incident. It is unknown if this is related to similar incidents reported by the community last month.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 60s or 70s, bald, white hair, beard and goatee. He was reportedly last seen wearing a blue and white striped shirt and sunglasses. UAPD said the suspect's vehicle was described as white, with a license plate that began with “DN.”

Marvin Smith, UA Public Information Officer, commented on why the campus was notified through the Timely Warning system and not UAlert. “It is not an active incident affecting anyone at this time,” Smith said.

Smith said UAlert texts are used for active incidents that may be currently impacting the campus community, such as possible shootings or gas leaks.

UAPD says anyone with information about this crime or knowledge of similar recent incidents should contact UAPD at 520-621-8273. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call 88-CRIME (520-882-7463).

The UAPD referred those affected by the incident to the resources listed on the UAPD victim resources page.
