No Julius Randle or Anthony Edwards for the Wolves in their preseason opener against the Lakers

Timberwolves fans eager to see new signing Julius Randle take the field in a Wolves jersey will have to wait a little longer. They also won't get the chance to see star guard Anthony Edwards on the court Friday night.

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch told reporters before the game that the Wolves will not play Edwards or Randle in their season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California. Lakers fans, meanwhile, won't have a chance to watch NBA all-time scoring leader LeBron James, who was also ruled out for the game.

However, Wolves fans will see Donte DiVincenzo receive his first call-up with the team. DiVincenzo will start alongside Mike Conley, Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid and Rudy Gobert.

Friday's game between the Wolves and Lakers begins at 9:30 p.m
