CHICAGO — A Riot Fest attendee who suffered a medical incident during the festival has died, organizers announced Friday afternoon.

It is unclear when the medical incident occurred, but organizers said the participant died on Thursday.

In the post, organizers addressed speculation about whether the medical incident happened during the band Slayer's performance, saying it was unrelated and happened before the set.

“We ask our community to come together, support each other and keep those affected in our thoughts,” a festival spokesman said Friday.

Organizers did not identify the person involved and said no further details about the incident would be released out of respect for his family.
