2 dead, 7 injured in crash in Aitkin County

MCGREGOR, Minn. (Northern News Now) – A crash in Aitkin County left two people dead and seven others injured Friday evening.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 169 and Grove Street, northwest of McGregor.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, an eastbound suburban man was pulling a trailer on County Road 3 when he ran a stop sign and struck a northbound Yukon.

Both passengers in the Suburban died at the scene, while the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The deceased passengers were a 61-year-old woman from Minnetonka and a 92-year-old man from Minnetonka.

The driver of the Suburban, also from Minnetonka, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, four of the people in Yukon suffered life-threatening injuries.

All are from Zimmerman, Minnesota, and range in age from 11 to 44.

Two other vehicles were also damaged in the accident. No one in these vehicles was injured.
