Leaked tape shows Donald Trump making jokes about murdered firefighter Corey Comperatore's widow

Leaked audio appears to reveal Donald Trump making jokes about Helen Comperatore, the widow of firefighter Corey Comperatore, who was killed by the assassin who targeted Trump's rally in Pennsylvania.

The revelation comes ahead of Trump's return to the site in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was assassinated and Comperatore was murdered next weekend.

While telling a joke in Aspen, Colorado, on August 10, Trump talked about how he had given Helen Comperatore $1 million and raised money for the family on Gofundme.

“So they're going to get millions of dollars, but the woman, the woman, this beautiful woman, I gave her the check – we gave her the check – and she said, 'That's so nice and I appreciate it , but.' I would much rather have my husband.' “I know some of the women in this room wouldn’t say the same thing,” he said with a laugh.

Trump then called out some members of the club who may have been the butt of the joke, but made a point of excluding Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who was in attendance.

“I know at least four couples. There are four pairs, Governor [Abbott]I know that and you are not one of them. “Actually, at least four couples would have been thrilled here.”

Trump actually told the joke once at a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, just weeks after the shooting.

The fundraiser is believed to have raised over $12 million for Trump's re-election campaign, The Guardian reports.

Trump vowed Tuesday to make his return to the site of his assassination a celebration of Comperatore's life.

He will perform in front of fans in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

“It's going to be a really big event and it's going to be special,” Trump told reporters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “We will celebrate Corey’s life.”

But he did not show that he was afraid to return to the spot where a bullet had hit his ear.

“Butler has become a pretty famous place,” he said. It's like a monument.

“Now people drive down the streets of Butler and look at it like it’s a monument.”

He said a GoFundMe appeal for Comperatore and other victims has raised $5 million. The majority had gone to his widow, but two other injured supporters also received $1 million.

He said the event was an opportunity to celebrate the emergency services, doctors and others who helped the wounded.

“There are a lot of talented people in our country, so it will be exciting,” he said.

“And the question is, how do I start the speech?

“And I think I'll say, 'Like I said,' because that's about where I was. I was very early.'

Trump has changed his campaign schedule since his July 13 wounding.

Most of his rallies since then have been held indoors. Outside, he now appears behind a thick, bulletproof privacy wall.

Elon Musk will accompany Trump at his rally on Saturday.

“I will be there to support!” Musk wrote on his social platform X on Thursday in a retweet about Trump’s own promotion of the rally. The CEO of SpaceX and Tesla will be among the special guests, Trump's campaign team confirmed Friday.

The event will be the first time the billionaire businessman has appeared publicly at a campaign rally for the former president since endorsing him.

The July confirmation came immediately after the assassination attempt, with Musk writing on X: “I fully support President Trump and hope for his speedy recovery.”

Musk has increased his support for Trump in recent months and has become more personally involved in politics – even agreeing to lead a government efficiency commission if Trump is re-elected.

He also launched a super PAC to support the Republican candidate, who spent heavily on turnout efforts in the final months of the campaign.

Saturday's rally is being held on the same property where a gunman's bullets grazed Trump's right ear and killed his supporter Comperatore. Several other people were injured in the shooting.

The campaign said several members of Comperatore's family, as well as other participants and first responders from the July rally, will join Trump at the farm show grounds on Saturday.

Also appearing with the former president will be his vice president, Ohio Republican Sen. JD Vance, his son Eric Trump, his daughter-in-law and RNC co-chair Lara Trump, and several Pennsylvania lawmakers and sheriffs, the campaign said.
