A woman's story about Detroit Lions' Kayode Awosika standing up to bullies at school is going viral

(CBS DETROIT) – The Detroit Lions fan base extends far beyond Michigan.

There is one fan in particular from out of state who has a very special reason for representing the Honolulu Blue.

Peyton Morris is a Seahawks fan who says their loyalty to Lions offensive lineman Kayode Awosika runs strong.

Like most people, Morris tells horror stories about her time in middle school. It was tough at times, but it was a star football player who would change the course of her middle school experience in Minnesota. She says Awosika used his power and influence to put an end to the bullying.

“Things were happening, and I definitely wasn’t on the most popular side,” Morris said. “Kayode was one of the top athletes in the school and he saw what was happening and he made it a point to intervene and I just thought that was great. It made things better. Anytime someone stands up for someone, it's going to help things, whether it's big or small (it helps.) So there's definitely been improvements.”

While watching her classmate play recently, Morris posted on social media the moment she will never forget as he stood up for her. This video is now going viral on TikTok.

The video said: “When you're a Seahawks fan, but the guy from high school who supported you against a bully is on the Lions.”

“It was crazy. I didn't think the video would do anything. If you watch the video again, you'll see that I didn't expect anything to happen. I was sitting on the couch sweating with my glasses on. “Just watching the game at the end of the day, I made this video for my few friends and it was crazy,” Morris said.

Morris says she can't necessarily call herself a full-fledged Lions fan because of her Seahawks, but because of what Kayode has done for her, she will always be there for him.

“I’m just so happy that so many people see what a great person he is,” Morris said.
