Niece of murdered lawyer testifies in Cameron County murder trial

Three people testified in the murder trial of Salomon Campos Jr. in Cameron County.

Campos is accused of killing his uncle Ernesto Gonzalez.

Gonzalez's niece, Nicole Ramirez, was among those who took the stand Friday. She talked about a protection order her uncle had put in place before he disappeared.

Gonzalez filed an order of protection against Nicole, Valerie Gonzalez and Rudy Ramirez. In the protective order he wrote that he feared for his life.

In Nicole's testimony, she told jurors that Campos Jr. showed her a GPS tracking device. She said Campos Jr. would use it to track down Gonzalez and find out if he was using drugs.

Nicole also testified about an argument between her and Gonzalez. She said she called police when Gonzalez threw a napkin holder at her, but it didn't hit her.

She also described another argument between her, her mother, her older sister and her Aunt Alice.

Nicole said the argument happened at her grandmother's funeral. She said Gonzalez reported Alice and accused her of not properly caring for her mother.

Testimony will resume on Monday.
