Israel kills Hamas military leader in airstrike in Lebanon

According to Hamas-affiliated media, Israel killed the leader of Hamas' armed wing, Saeed Atallah, in an airstrike in northern Lebanon on Saturday.

According to local media, Atallah was killed along with three family members in a Palestinian refugee camp in the coastal city of Tripoli.

This latest attack is a continuation of the wave of attacks Israel has launched across Lebanon to wipe out Hezbollah targets.

Atallah was the leader of the Al-Qassam Brigades – the military wing of the Palestinian nationalist organization.

Last week, Israel killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was “neutralized” in the terrorist organization's bunker headquarters in the Lebanese capital Beirut.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Jewish state's widening conflict with Hezbollah has caused over 2,000 civilian casualties in Lebanon.

Israel has not commented on Saturday's strike in Tripoli.

However, the Israel Defense Forces' X account boasted of its military successes over the past week.

“In the last four days, the IDF has eliminated more than 2,000 military targets and 250 Hezbollah terrorists,” the post said, “five battalion commanders, 10 company commanders, 6 platoon commanders.”

Earlier this week, Israel was hit by rocket fire from Iran, marking a clear escalation in the conflict as it approaches its first anniversary. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he would not rule out an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
