Suspect arrested after one killed and one injured in Enosburgh, Vermont

The son of the man who died Friday in Enosburgh and the injured woman have been arrested in connection with the attack, according to Vermont State Police. Jordan Lawyer, 29, of Enosburgh, Vermont, was arrested Friday by Vermont State Police. He is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree aggravated domestic violence stemming from the attack that left his father, 54-year-old Todd Lawyer, dead and his mother, 58-year-old Robin Lawyer, injured. The victims were found Friday morning after police were notified of a disturbance at the lawyer's family home on West Enosburgh Road (VT Route 108) near Tyler Branch Road. When they arrived at the scene, they found Todd Lawyer dead outside the house and Robin Lawyer injured. Police say evidence collected as part of their investigation shows that Jordan Lawyer attacked both of his parents with a baseball bat at the family home. Lawyer was first taken into police custody just before 11:30 a.m. downtown after a “be on guard” notice was issued for him and his Jeep Cherokee earlier that morning. Police said the lawyer was seen fleeing the property where the attack took place just before 9am. He initially fled from police on Route 105, but then crashed into a game warden's vehicle. The lawyer was arrested after police officers fired a non-lethal bullet at him. State police said Robin Lawyer's condition was stable as of Friday evening and she remains in the hospital receiving treatment for her injuries. Todd Lawyer's body will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. This is breaking news. It will be updated as more information becomes available. Editor's note: An earlier version of this story said the attorney had been arrested.
