Vacaville police make arrest for hit-and-run

According to Vacaville Police, 21-year-old Daniel Lopez was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail.

VACAVILLE, Calif. – Vacaville police say a 21-year-old man was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on a charge of hit-and-run causing injury after a 73-year-old grandfather was struck while crossing the street with his dog.

Police identified the arrested man as Daniel Lopez of Vacaville.

According to police, Lopez struck Romeo Banayat and his dog Snowman at the intersection of Browns Valley Road and Vacavalley Parkway on Monday.

Vacaville police said Banayat was thrown into the street and suffered a dislocated shoulder and a broken hip. Police also said it appeared Snowman also dragged under the car.

Banayat and Snowman are still recovering.

ABC10 spoke with his family after the hit-and-run and one of his daughters said she found him lying in the road on the way home from work.
