Two people accused of organizing fraudulent car sales in Seneca County – Finger Lakes Daily News

The investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a vehicle in Seneca County has led to the arrest of two Seneca Falls residents.

According to the sheriff's office, 44-year-old Joseph Smith and 37-year-old Tanya Rush allegedly worked together to forge another person's signature on the bill of sale for a vehicle without their consent. Both are charged with forgery, possession of a forged instrument, identity theft and three counts of conspiracy.

Following arraignment, Smith was taken to the Seneca County Jail pending an upcoming hearing on previous felony convictions, while Rush was released on an appearance ticket.

The fact that a defendant is accused of a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
