The fatal house explosion in Butler County, Missouri, has been determined to be an accident. Investigators found a propane gas leak in the basement

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – Two people were killed in a house explosion Friday morning, October 4, according to the sheriff's office.

It happened just before 9 a.m. on County Road 605

According to Mike O'Connell with the Missouri Department of Public Safety, the preliminary investigation revealed the propane tank was full on Thursday. He said investigation of the crime scene revealed that there was a leak in a pipe in the basement wall that allowed gas to leak into the basement.

O'Connell said the explosion was ruled an accident.

Butler County Coroner Jim Akers identified the two victims as 77-year-old Diana Baker and her 67-year-old brother Danny Batchelor.

Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs said the explosion could be heard from one side of town to the other.

The sheriff's office, fire department and fire marshal's office responded to the scene.
