Coroner identifies man who died in H-3 crash | News

The coroner identified the man who died in Wednesday night's H-3 crash as Kevin Kauweloa. He was 39 years old, was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash and police say speed and alcohol were factors.



KANEOHE, Hawaii (Island News) – The city's coroner identified the man who died in Wednesday night's crash on the H-3 Freeway.

The driver was identified as Kevin Kauweloa. He was 39 years old and lived in Kaneohe. According to his family, he worked at Queen's Medical Center.

Kauweloa died after his Toyota 4Runner rolled over on October 2, 2024. Police said he was heading to Kaneohe and his SUV hit a guardrail and then rolled over.

Kauweloa was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown. His SUV then crashed into a utility pole, throwing him onto the Honolulu-bound roadway.

Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.
