Coco Gauff makes a great comeback and reaches the China Open final

Badosa, ranked as low as 140th in the world in May, came into the semi-finals in Beijing on the back of good form, which included defeating second seed and US Open finalist Jessica Pegula in the round of 16.

And she took advantage of Gauff's inconsistencies, particularly on her serve, which resulted in 11 double faults, to win the first set and break in the first game of the second set.

Gauff is working with new coach Matt Daly after ending her partnership with Brad Gilbert last month following her fourth-round exit at the US Open, where she was defending her title.

She saved four break points to avoid a 4-1 defeat in the second set and from then on the momentum was with the American, who regained her composure as Badosa lost her first set of the week.

Gauff was knocked down three times in the decider to secure victory as she looks to extend her only title of the year so far in Auckland in January.

“I tried to stay focused, it was hard, but mentally I just tried to restart,” she said.
