Holy Cross defeats Jesuit to get a much-needed win

The Holy Cross Tigers defeated the Jesuit Blue Jays 21-7 on Friday night in a rivalry game that has been played every year since 1922. The Tigers have won their last three games against the Blue Jays by a combined score of 93-7. Holy Cross started the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown run from running back Ke'Rynn Smith, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead -Provided leadership. Jesuit had a chance to get on the scoreboard before the end of the half, but a bad snap to quarterback Taylor Norton saw the Holy Cross defense shut down the Blue Jays' offense. The Tigers added another touchdown early in the second half. Holy Cross completed a 12-play, 75-yard drive in more than six minutes that ended with a 1-1 by Kayden Andoh. Yard touchdown run that gave the Tigers a 14-0 lead. Jesuit finally got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter when Norton connected with tight end Frank Finicle for a 4-yard touchdown, making the game 14-7. The Blue Jays had a chance to put the ball over to push the field and decide the game towards the end of the fourth quarter. Norton had receiver Calvin Magee wide open, but he slipped and the ball was intercepted by Holy Cross defender Cedrick Harmon, who returned it 63 yards for a touchdown. Holy Cross (2-3,1-1) will play John on the road next week Curtis.Jesuit (3-2,1-1) will also play an away game against St. Augustine.
