Indiana County Police are investigating an accident and tree vandalism

While the Indiana Area Collaborative Team has not released any announcements regarding on- and off-campus activities for Friday evening, Indiana Borough Police have released information about some investigations conducted Friday.

One of the incidents was a collision between a car and a pedestrian. According to police, this happened at the intersection of Church Street and Rex Avenue at 4:50 p.m. A teenager riding a skateboard through the intersection was struck by an eastbound sedan driven by an unnamed woman. Police said the injuries were not life-threatening and members of the teen's family were present during the investigation. Police determined that the driver had not committed any traffic violations. The police were assisted by the community ambulance.

The other incident involved a tree along Philadelphia Street. Police reported that around 12:03 Friday morning, 22-year-old Trent Lunden of Murrysville was charged with a single felony count of damaging a tree in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street. About ten hours later, police were called to investigate the damage caused to the Royal Prince Oak planted along the sidewalk. Video surveillance caught Lunden intentionally damaging the tree. He cooperated with investigators and a criminal complaint will be filed through District Judge Tony Sottile's office.

An official report from the Indiana Area Collaborative Team is expected this morning.
