2 dead, 3 injured in head-on crash on US-77

Two people were killed and three others were injured in a crash on US-77 in Garvin County on Friday, authorities said.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said it happened just before 10 p.m., a mile south of County Road 1550 near Pauls Valley.

According to police, a vehicle traveling south on the highway crossed the center line and crashed head-on into another vehicle containing four people.

According to authorities, 39-year-old Christopher Pierri and a 15-year-old passenger died at the scene of the accident. The other two female teenagers in the car were taken to the hospital.

OHP said the driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line was the only occupant. He was trapped in the vehicle for about 30 minutes after the accident before being taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
