Man arrested and charged after fatal shooting at Break Time Pub & Billiards

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – A suspect has been arrested and charged after fatally shooting a man in the 2800 block of Palmyra Road Friday night.

According to Albany Police, officers responded to Break Time Pub & Billiards in reference to a shooting around 10:32 p.m.

Upon arrival, the victim, 36-year-old Lorne Niel Odom, was found in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the back.

He was then taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, police said.

A suspect, Michael Nix, 53, was taken into custody.

According to police, it was determined that a physical altercation had occurred after Nix was escorted from the store by Odom.

Nix was seen pulling out a gun and chasing Odom before firing a shot, hitting him in the lower back.

Nix was accused of:

  • felony murder
  • Serious bodily harm
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony

Nix was taken to the Dougherty County Jail.
