Vacaville police arrest a driver accused of striking a man who was walking his dog

An arrest was made Friday after a 73-year-old man and his dog were struck by a vehicle in Vacaville Monday night, police said. Police arrested 21-year-old Daniel Lopez of Vacaville and towed his vehicle as evidence, officials said. Vacaville police said the victim was walking his dog named Snowman in the crosswalk at the intersection of Browns Valley Road and Vaca Valley Parkway around 9:15 p.m. when both were struck by a vehicle. Officials said the man was involved in the snowman being thrown onto the roadway and investigators believe the snowman was dragged under the vehicle before hobbling to a nearby home. Police said the suspect, now identified as Lopez, did not stop to check on them and continued driving away. Police said the man suffered a dislocated shoulder, broken hip and broken femur. He had to undergo surgery. Snowman also suffered serious injuries, officials said, and was eventually reunited with his family. Lopez was booked into the Solano County Jail on a charge of hit-and-run causing injury. The incident is still under investigation. According to police, an arrest was made Friday after a 73-year-old man and his dog were struck by a vehicle in Vacaville Monday evening.

Police arrested Daniel Lopez, 21, of Vacaville and towed his vehicle as evidence, officials said.

Vacaville police said the victim was walking his dog named Snowman in the crosswalk at the intersection of Browns Valley Road and Vaca Valley Parkway around 9:15 p.m. when both were struck by a vehicle.

Officials said the man was thrown onto the roadway, and investigators believe Schneemann was dragged under the vehicle before limping to a nearby home.

Police said the suspect, now identified as Lopez, did not stop to check on them and continued to drive away.

According to police, the man suffered a dislocated shoulder, a broken hip and a broken femur. He had to undergo surgery.

Snowman also suffered serious injuries, officials said, and was eventually reunited with his family.

Lopez was booked into the Solano County Jail on a charge of hit-and-run causing injury.

The incident remains under investigation.
