Police shoot man accused of stabbing Bridgeport officer: reports

BRIDGEPORT, CT – A Bridgeport man was reportedly shot and killed by police early Saturday after authorities said he stabbed an officer multiple times with a knife.

Bridgeport police responded to the 100 block of Terry Place after receiving a report of an emotionally disturbed person, NBC Connecticut reported. When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Huntly Jackson armed with a knife.

According to a WFSB report, Jackson stabbed an officer multiple times in the shoulder, neck and head with the knife, prompting police to open fire.

It is unclear how many officers fired their weapons.

Jackson and the officer were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital, where Jackson remains in critical condition, WFSB reported. The officer was treated and released.

Jackson faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, first-degree assault, assault on a public safety officer and resisting arrest. His bail was reportedly set at $1 million.
