Suspected drug dealer arrested after weed was found in Disney's “Frozen” backpack, police said

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – Evansville police said they arrested a 25-year-old man on drug charges late Friday evening.

Shortly before 10 p.m., officers said they spotted a gray Dodge Charger driving extremely slowly on Line Street next to the park.

According to an affidavit, the car's license plate was obscured and the license plate light reflected off it, making it illegible.

Officers stopped the vehicle and the driver, Marvin Gaye Johnson IV, exited despite being told not to.

During a pat-down, officers said they found a prescription bag full of oxycodone pills in his pocket.

Police said Johnson claimed the pills were from his grandmother and told police he got them from his aunt to give to his grandmother.

Officials say the names of his grandmother and aunt did not match the names on the prescription bag.

EPD officers said they found $520 in cash in his pockets.

During a search of the vehicle, police said they found a child's backpack with a character from Disney's “Frozen” lying on a toddler's car seat.

According to officers, there was a large bag containing more than 20 grams of marijuana in the backpack.

According to police, a metal tray containing illegal drugs and a loaded 10mm handgun were also found in the car.

Officials say Johnson is a serious violent criminal and has a prior conviction for escape.

Marvin Gaye Johnson IV was arrested and booked into jail without bail.

He faces charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of cocaine or narcotics and trafficking in marijuana.
