Fatal car accident in New Jersey: 2 dead, 1 seriously injured in night-time accident with tractor-trailer

LINDEN, New Jersey (WABC) — Two men died in a car accident in Linden, New Jersey overnight.

It happened just before 3 a.m. on Route 1. Officers said they responded to a crash at the intersection of South Stiles Street and Route 1.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Infiniti car was traveling in the northbound lane when it struck a tractor-trailer.

The truck was apparently turning left onto South Stiles Street when the accident occurred.

One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Meanwhile, the driver and another passenger were taken to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries.

The second passenger later died.

The truck driver was uninjured, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
