Congressman's son arrested in hit-and-run accident that left injuries | Mumbai News

Mumbai: Govandi police on Saturday arrested Ganesh (43), son of Congressman Chandrakant Handore fled the scene after his car allegedly rammed a scooter, injuring the two-wheeler rider. Ganesh was on his way to a juice center towards Chembur when the incident occurred. He did not stop the car to help the injured man, police said.
Ganesh was admitted to JJ Hospital after his sugar level dropped.
Soon after police received information about the accident, the injured person, Gopal Arote (30), was rushed to a hospital in Chembur and admitted for treatment. His condition is said to be stable. A police source said they called Ganesh from his home and arrested him. The police officer stated that Ganesh got scared and fled from the spot.
Arote was sitting on a scooter and behind him was Ganesh in his car. Near a speed limiter, Ganesh rammed the scooter. Arote does odd jobs. Ganesh's son was also in the car with him.
β€œIt seems that Ganesh was not drunk. We have taken a blood sample from him and will send it for medical examination,” police said. Ganesh was suffering from diabetes, police said. After the arrest, he was also admitted to JJ Hospital when his sugar level dropped. Investigators informed the court about this, the police said.
Police registered a case under BNS sections for an act endangering life or personal safety of others and dangerous driving under the Motor Vehicles Act.
