Cohoes man arrested on multiple drug charges after joint investigation

The Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office arrested Bryon L. Robinson, 42, of Cohoes, on multiple drug charges following a joint investigation with the office's Criminal Investigation Division and Cohoes Police Department detectives.

Robinson was found to be in possession of more than 10 grams of cocaine, a set of brass knuckles, a high-capacity magazine, packaging materials and a scale, the sheriff's office said.

According to the sheriff's office, Robinson was charged with one count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

According to authorities, an investigation focused on the sale of cocaine and fentanyl led to Robinson's arrest on Oct. 2.

The charges Robinson faces stem from two search warrants executed by the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Unit in collaboration with the Cohoes Police Department, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities say the search warrants were executed at 81 Manor Sites and 3 McElwain Avenue in Cohoes.

According to police, he was taken into custody without incident, arraigned in Cohoes Municipal Court and held in lieu of $45,000 bail, $25,000 bail or $50,000 partially secured bail sent back to the Albany County Jail.

Sheriff Kyle Bourgault issued the following statement:

“In our fight against the fentanyl epidemic and the pervasive sale of narcotics, cooperation between authorities is critical. By combining our resources and expertise, we can dismantle these networks, protect our communities and create a safer environment for everyone.”
