According to police, an 81-year-old man crashed into a restaurant in Jackson Township, killing a 69-year-old man

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) – Charges are pending against an 81-year-old woman in connection with Friday's collision at a Jackson Township restaurant and the killing of a 69-year-old man.

According to a release from Jackson Township Police, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in which the car drove into a building at approximately 11:55 a.m

The accident occurred at Angello's 2 Go, 5081 Fulton Drive, NW, Canton.

According to the news release, 81-year-old Barbara O'Donnell of Canal Fulton was driving a gray 2018 Toyota Rav-4 when she pulled into a parking space in front of the store. She thought she had hit the brake, but that was the gas.

She drove through the front of the store, pinning 69-year-old Andrew Grosschmidt of Canton between the counter and the car, police said.

Police were able to remove O'Donnell's car and transport Grosschmidt to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center.

According to the statement, he later died from his injuries.

O'Donnell was treated at the scene and released.

According to the statement, no other guests or employees were injured.

Grosschmidt's granddaughter was present at the scene of the accident but was not injured.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in this accident, but the investigation is ongoing.

According to police, charges are currently pending.
