The Tacoma deputy's chase ends in a drug bust

A convicted felon fled law enforcement during a regular traffic stop. That's when the chase began, according to Tacoma police.

Shortly before midnight on Sept. 28, an officer in Tacoma said he was on routine field training when he noticed a car without its headlights on at 96th St S and Park Ave.

As he turned on his lights and siren, the driver of the car began driving away at a high rate of speed, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office.

A video was posted on YouTube by the Pierce County Sheriff's Office showing the interactions on the night of September 28th.

When deputies arrived, they triggered tire spikes that flattened the driver's tires. At that point, police said, a man who had been convicted of a crime got out and asked why he was being followed, saying he had done nothing wrong.

According to PCSO, investigators found a gun, 200 rounds of bullets, marijuana and methamphetamine in the car.
