Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes spoke to Billboard about a number of topics, including the viral FaceTime chat he promoted with hip-hop music icon Jay-Z earlier this year.

Rhodes said: “I have to thank Michael Rubin of Fanatics for this. He was just having a normal conversation, like he does with someone like Jay-Z. This whole moment was incredible for me, going to Fanatics Fest for the first time ever and hearing first hand what I was told about just some of the WWE merch numbers and especially my own. As a kid, being in the top five of all the athletes represented and trying to tell everyone around you, “Hey, wrestling is really cool.” You should come to my house, you'll like it. “Hey, come to the show with me, you’ll be a fan” to see her reach that mainstream level again. I don’t want to take it for granted.”

On working with Metro Boomin for the Bad Blood ads:

“With Bad Blood, Triple H and Nick Khan, they asked me to do the packages and sizzle reels with Metro Boomin. I’m like, “Yes!” That’s what we do. That's what we want. In order to be able to carry out the stakeout [with Metro] and hopefully it continues as we head towards Bad Blood, that was a really sweet moment. It was really cool to connect with someone like that, not just an artist in a different medium, but someone who's trying to tell stories like we're trying to.”
